@brevadude I am inclined to disagree with you. I do not believe there is a "persona of a cracker in B'ham, etc.... " I believe that this song is indeed a tribute to "salt of the earth" types. This song was released in 1974 on the LP "Good Ole Boys", the first track of which includes the song "Rednecks", which is clearly an indictment of sanctimonious "northeners" who point fingers at "southerners" for being racists, while they themselves are just as guilty of racism....

thanks, thats one of the main reasons i created this video (and the one on RFK) i had hoped to get people interested in certain historical moments or figures, i would like to do more, but finding the free time to do all the editing can be daunting i accessed this footage by pointing a video camera at a TV screen and recording the scenes i wanted... i'm sure there is a better way to do this now, i'd have to do some research to figure out "how"... i hope this helped....

The Nissan GTR whooped the RS500 in the ATCC. The only reason that the Aussies banned the turbo charged cars is that they could not stand that their 70's technology V8'S were getting slaughtered by advanced European and Jap machinery. I was pointing out there *were* other touring cars that could have competed with Ford - the Oz series proved this briefly when the Skyline and RS500 competed in the same series.
