Actually somehow I ended up defending O.R.. I don't even remember how the hell it's relevent. flyingarch just went on something about obedience and I came in talking about a scene from Fable2 then he said something about love then I said I never said anything about love, and now he says O.R. is flawed and I figured I might as well defend it so, yea... I even tried looking back, i have no idea how the hell we got to talking about OR.

Dawkins is so articulate and brave. It is a breath of fresh air when he comes into this story. I heard the States was bad but I didn't know it was THIS bad. I'm surprised Dawkins hasn't been assassinated! I kinda wish the title was more positive too. It expresses no disgust for theists charging such a "price".

Again O.R. just says that if you have 2 explainations for the same thing, both with equal amount of proof it is practical to assume that the simpler one is correct. They both have an equal chance of being true, so what matters is practicality.

Dear Sheo, Except that with increased knowledge comes the realization of the reality of increased complexity. Occam's philosophy does not deal with truth or reality, only with man's failure to know the unknown. Your engineering example is, in fact, the antithesis of your presumption. More points of failure are introduced with complexity, but in order to improve a thing to increase performance and efficiency, it does not get simpler, it gets more complex.

If you see a man with a cat, does he secretly love the cat physically every night because demons tell him to in his sleep, or does he just have a pet cat? It also applies very well to engineering, the more complicated the machine the less likely it will work.

This is exactly what i've been trying to tell people when they say, "why do you speak against religion all the time?" and they just don't get it. Christianity ENDORSES bigotry against anything considered "non-christian". It's so damn sad, and i feel so bad for that girl. Atheists feel the stigma that if we band together we're as bad as organized religious people - but i don't think so. I think, now of all times, we need to band together and prove to the real monsters that we're not the monsters!

From personal experience, I came to two possible conclusions: Either there is no God or the Bible is wrong about his depiction. Because if God exists according to what the Bible says, he's a fucking maniac and shouldn't be in charge of anything! My skepitcal mind later developed and with that, I pretty much ruled out anything supernatural, including God. If anything, the existence of God is a very distinct possibility and more evidence exists against his favor. Anyhow, this *is* the South.
