Why the hell should she change just to fit in with the "mainstream" and to make others happy? Tell me that, eh??? Anyway, more to the point, she looks nothing like a goth! How does a little black halter-neck top look goth? And her jewellery is Pagan, not gothic! xsashulyax, there's nothing goth about what she's wearing. I have a friend who's very catholic and her fave color is black and she wears a cross that some would consider "gothic". But she's not. :-) And even if she WERE....you're getting gothic mixed up with Satanism, which are two entirely separate things. You can be Christian and dress goth. Bet you didn't know that. Ya learn something new everyday.

Though I see your point, I don't see TTC nearly as goth-like that would turn anyone away. She's just being herself and wears what she's comfortable wearing which has never looked very extreme to me. Also, is a Pentacle, faerie and ankh (sp?) really gothic?

Aren't you kind of asking to be judged when you wear black and have "gothic" type jewelry? I mean, you know the majority of people will think you're some evil, Satan-worshiper. You could do the exact same things you do now but look more "mainstream." If anything, that would expose more people to accepting Paganism because they wouldn't think it's just for strange goth people.

You are wrong on many counts. There is a right way. We Wicca do have a Book of Shadows that has been passed down from initiator to student. It gives us all sorts of wonderful things like liturgy, spells, guidelines, ethics and much more. Buckland was not initiated by Gardner but by Monique Wilson. Wicca have similar practice and lineage to Gardner. You are, in my eyes, an eclectic Pagan. Read The Witches Bible by the Farrars if you want to get a feel for what Wicca is. Many blessings.

I think this video really speaks out. im 12 and my family is full christians and hate witchcraft and wicca, but my friend whose account im using now inspired me otherwise. its weird, it all started with harry potter magic and then i got into a deeper truer form of magic. i started research on the computer and now i love all wiccans. you all inspire me. Wicca is not neccisarily right for me. In one way, it is, but also, I see now that I am not "Fluffy enough" For this. In truth, I believe in a darker, not evil, but darker magick, one that most real hard core wiccans would condem. Notice I do not capitalize that, nor any other religion, why? The path of the solitary practitioner is just as valid but IMHO because there is no feedback from others on progress it is a slower, often times harder and not to mention a lonelier road. I was solitary before I became a member of a coven. BTW is a hard path and the travel to center is less convoluted. One of the fastest ways to learn is through trial and hardship and the powers that be take full advantage of that. The BTW path is not for the faint of heart. One has to be called to it I think.

There are certain ear marks that an initiation one must have in order to be considered proper by "The Wicca"--BTW wicca. What I am saying AmberandJet, is that most Wiccan's nowadays aren't "traditional". We're not all part of a coven or initiated by anyone else. "Book of Shadows" is a term used for a Grimoire by most eclectic solitary Wiccan's, which make up the majority of Wiccan's these days. They are considered to be one in the same, but perhaps technically are not. Big deal.

Those who are initiated into a British Traditional Wiccan Coven will copy this same book. This is how we can call ourselves orthopraxic (same practice). Contained within are the sacred rites which give the keys to the mysteries. What you are speaking of is a Grimior or personal journel which contains the individual's journey on the path.

Personally, Silver was the first one I looked to on Wicca and I would have to disagree because everyone has their own opinions on what we think is right or wrong. There are many different Wiccan writers out there who have combined their ideas into books and they all work with the craft differently. You should learn off of who you think you can relate with the most. I honestly prefer the teachings of Cunningham more than Silver, but some of her books are great for beginners.
