Well seeing as BC stands for BEFORE CHRIST and AD stands for "Amino Daios", IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD, that would make sense... Back then the church was also part of the state apparatus, so, this isn't so surprising... It doesn't mean that the dates were made up or that they suddenly made up when Jesus existed. The Bible had already been canonized 350 years prior. And the dates roughly match up (around 30-35AD when Jesus died). So, I'm not sure what your point is...

The Bible does have some basis in fact you know. Sure, the old testament exaggerates a lot, but things such as the flood, for example, we are pretty sure did happen. The flood was just in the mid east, or just in Babylonia, rather than the whole world. Jesus was likely a real person, but if you're not religious, then you can say he was just a philosopher or profit rather than the son of God. And the works of Saul/Paul, well, that is historically accurate.

The Council determined that the 4 books in the bible now are the oldest, and that other books (book of Mary, book of Judas, etc) had been written much later and were corrupted in order to spread gnosticism.
